2011 Summer/Fall Activities
After seven years of work on the stump puller, it was finally unveiled in July at Heritage Park. Many thanks to funders Rio Tinto Alcan, Canadian Helicopters Ltd., J. Oviatt Conracting Ltd., and the men and women of Kitimat who gave their time and energy for retrieval, assembly, and placement. Thanks to the District of Kitimat for providing a permenent location for this piece of early community heritage and for sign design. The support of the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce is also appreciated.
Jenny the Jeep (1948) finally found a home with the Museum. Kitimat's first piece of firefighting equipment was donated in the Spring by the District of Kitimat Firehall to the Museum. The Jeep joins Fire One (Kitimat's first fire truck) in the Museum's bay at the Firehall.
Local artist Eileen Hutson was the first Kitimat artist to receive the People's Choice Award in the Museum's northwest artist annual exhibition, "Reflections".
